It takes a village...

After visiting the Calgary Baby and Tot show 2017, it was impossible for us to stop thinking about the gazillion opportunities that us parents have every single day in making our path to a better world. We met with so many great people that our hearts are happy and thrilled to share EVERYTHING with you guys.

2017 edition of Baby and Tot show was held at BMO Centre here in Calgary and Family Filmmaker was there!

Big shout to the organizers and exhibitors!

One of the places I was more excited to learn about, was a model train park located near Airdrie. It runs under the power of volunteers and they would be a great venue for birthdays. It is called The Iron Horse Park and you can read more about them here: www.ironhorsepark.net . They are open to the public  every Sunday from 11am to 4pm, from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving. We are going to visit them for sure as Nico is a fan of all sort of vehicles, trains, trucks and practically everything that has to do with transportation.
We were also thrilled to learn that the world is indeed changing, and more and more people is being conscious about what we leave behind. Two great initiatives will help reduce the amount of disposable diapers waste that end up in the landfills: Pumpkins Diaper Delivery and Soiled Diapers.
We shared some time talking to these amazing business owners and they are, hands down, putting a lot of effort and passion into this. Let's be part of the change we want to see in the world, because every effort counts. Get a hold of Cayley by visiting www.pumpkinsdiaperdelivery.com and also make sure to talk to Mark or Kyle through www.soileddiapers.ca.

Cayley believes in making a positive impact in the world. We didn't have much time for photo posing as her booth was constantly busy.
There were so many stories shared and such good vibes that I could keep on and on... Doulas, sleep consultants, breast feeding consultants, fellow photographers and videographers that are also discovering the passion of serving families.
The list is longer than I am able to write, but to keep the story short, I wanted to say congratulations to all the amazing people that made this event possible. My wife, my kid and I had so much fun over the weekend that we want the fall edition of Calgary Baby and Tot show to start right away.

Tenshy and I decided that Family Filmmaker will be part of the next edition of Calgary Baby and Tot Show. We will see you in our booth!
Oh, before I forget:
I'll be writing about this in a later post, but please do not miss the opportunity to attend to the screening of MILK, a film by Naomi Weis. The greatest tip of all weekend, thanks to Amber from Calgary Breastfeeding Matters Group. Function in Calgary will be in Cardel Theatre, March 30, 2017.

Finding purpose in life

Who can relate to a dad giving advice to his little kid? I surely can, and that does not necessarily means I'm the wisest guy on Earth. One of the most motivational scenes from the movie Pursuit of Happiness occurs when Chris Gardner (the character played by Will Smith) is hitting the bottom and he realizes how to turn that into a learning experience to his little boy.

Did you know Chris Gardner's son is interpreted by Jade Smith?
Jade is Will Smith's son in real life.
And that's exactly what today's post is about. Most of the times, while we are so busy seeking for specific goals, we need to stop and have a moment or two where we quietly hear what our hearts are whispering. Our hearts are never wrong, by the way. We just need to listen more!

One of our mentors showed me this compilation of videos earlier today, and I've been thinking about  the biggest take away from my point of view. Then I thought, hey, why not sharing it? After all, blogging is about sharing experiences and, while doing it, creating a bigger movement, a ripple effect of good intention, if you'd like.

Will Smith's Top 10 Rules for Success
VIDEO

That was my realization this morning. Things start to fall into place when the work you are so passionate about is serving the purpose of helping people being happier. Finding my purpose in life has taken several years and, as you  might imagine, I would not be here if it was not by all the turning points and step backs I've faced. Actually, I would not have the family I have if things would have been different. And that's a lot to be grateful about.

So I'm leaving you a link to the same video that inspired me to write today's post. Thanks, Bruce, for showing it to me. I'm doing my part in spreading the word and motivating others in achieving their life purpose.

And let's not leave it here, let's share thoughts, let's be open to the possibilities laying in front of us. Even when we are not able to see them 'cristal clear'. Trust me, they are there. We all came to this world with a purpose.

Cheers
